Covers Saudi Arabia Rates checked Runs in your browser
GOSI, the General Organization for Social Insurance, collects social insurance contributions for everyone working in Saudi Arabia’s private sector. What you pay depends on whether you’re Saudi and, for Saudis, on when you first registered.
Rates in 2026
| Branch | Saudi, registered before 3 July 2024 | Saudi, registered from 3 July 2024 | Non-Saudi |
|---|---|---|---|
| Annuities (pension) | 9% employee + 9% employer | 10% + 10% from July 2026 | None |
| SANED (unemployment) | 0.75% + 0.75% | 0.75% + 0.75% | None |
| Occupational hazards | 2% employer | 2% employer | 2% employer |
| Employee pays | 9.75% | 10.75% | 0% |
| Employer pays | 11.75% | 12.75% | 2% |
The new system’s rising pension rate
The Social Insurance Law that took effect on 3 July 2024 applies to Saudis who register with GOSI for the first time from that date. Their annuities rate started at 9% each for employee and employer and rises by half a point each July:
| From July | Employee | Employer |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 9% | 9% |
| 2025 | 9.5% | 9.5% |
| 2026 | 10% | 10% |
| 2027 | 10.5% | 10.5% |
| 2028 | 11% | 11% |
Saudis who were already registered before July 2024 stay on 9% each, even if they change jobs.
Which pay counts
- Counted: basic salary and the cash housing allowance. If the employer provides housing instead, it counts as two months’ basic salary a year. Commission counts as basic pay.
- Not counted: transport and other allowances, overtime, bonuses and benefits in kind.
- Limits: contributions are worked out on at least SAR 1,500 a month for Saudis (SAR 400 for the hazards branch) and at most SAR 45,000.
Example
A Saudi employee who joined the workforce in 2025, with SAR 10,000 basic and SAR 2,500 housing, has a contributable wage of SAR 12,500. From July 2026 GOSI takes 10.75% of that, SAR 1,343.75 a month, and the employer pays 12.75%, SAR 1,593.75. With a SAR 1,000 transport allowance the take-home pay is SAR 12,156.25. An expatriate on the same package pays nothing, and the employer pays SAR 250 for hazards cover.
Good to know
- Expatriates don’t build up a GOSI pension. Their long-term benefit is the end-of-service award; see the Saudi end-of-service calculator.
- GCC nationals working in Saudi Arabia contribute at their home country’s rates under the GCC insurance extension, so they aren’t covered by this calculator.
- The step dates for the new system follow the July anniversary of the law. Some payroll providers apply them from 1 July and others from 3 July, so the July payslip can vary.
- Check your record and contribution history on GOSI’s online services or the Taminaty app.
